adventure-based
activities such as biking, climbing, rappelling,
camping and hiking. This is also home to New Mexico’s
largest ropes course. Our summer camp gives students
an opportunity to explore and deepen their relationship
with nature as we prepare them for back-to-school
programming.
At the center of camp lies the Turtle Amphitheater—an
adobe structure built in the shape of a giant
turtle in honor of Turtle Island, the traditional
Native American name for North America. The Amphitheater
provides a place for recreation and spirituality,
where games, performances and traditional practices
are often held.
Every year, the Sacred Mountain Learning Center
brings many challenges and adventures for our
students to experience. We look forward to seeing
you next summer on Mt. Taylor!
