Laguna Mid School Project Venture

With support from the Elev8 program, Atlantic Philanthropies, and the New Mexico Community Foundation, Laguna Mid-School has combined Project Venture with GK12 (Graduate Teaching in K-12) programming to create an innovative and effective approach to empowering the lives of Native youth and their communities.

instruction often lacks the components necessary to provide students with inquiry skills. By pairing graduate student fellows in the sciences with K-12 teachers in public schools, the NSF has chosen to implement the GK12 program in an effort to improve teachers’ skills and confidence in providing inquiry-based instruction as well as modeling of the scientific process.

Through year-round experiential and adventure education, the multi-disciplinary collaboration strives to promote personal growth and leadership skills through positive youth development, an appreciation for the outdoors and field-based science instruction. Laguna Middle School Project Venture and GK12 look forward to another successful year.
