instruction often lacks the components necessary to provide students with inquiry skills. By pairing graduate student fellows in the sciences with K-12 teachers in public schools, the NSF has chosen to implement the GK12 program in an effort to improve teachers’ skills and confidence in providing inquiry-based instruction as well as modeling of the scientific process.
Through year-round experiential and adventure education, the multi-disciplinary collaboration strives to promote personal growth and leadership skills through positive youth development, an appreciation for the outdoors and field-based science instruction. Laguna Middle School Project Venture and GK12 look forward to another successful year.
